Varipay.ca is not an integration credit. BearPlex engineered the Canadian payment platform end to end: merchant onboarding, transaction pipeline, settlement, and the APIs other developers integrate against.
Every rail your revenue runs on.
Since 2017 we have shipped payment integrations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. From a single Stripe checkout to building a Canadian payment gateway from the ground up, this page is the map of that work.
The platforms we know like our own codebase.
These are not logos on a slide. Each one represents production systems we have designed, shipped, and operated.
Checkout and Elements, Billing and subscription lifecycles, Connect marketplace splits and payouts, webhook-driven reconciliation, disputes, and SCA-ready payment flows.
Merchant-of-record billing for SaaS. We partner with Paddle and wire it in where global sales tax, invoicing, and compliance should be someone else's problem.
Online payments, terminal and point-of-sale flows, and catalog-linked checkout for businesses that sell in person and online from one stack.
Full-service MoR checkout for software and digital products, including localized pricing, VAT handling, and subscription management.
Lightweight merchant-of-record checkout for digital goods, licensing keys, and creator-style storefronts.
Native gateway work across African markets, where cards are not the default: mobile money flows, local acquiring, and the retry-tolerant engineering these networks demand.
Gateways and rails we work across.
Payment APIs converge on the same primitives. Range is what keeps a recommendation honest: we advise on the rail that fits your market, not the one we happen to resell.

The engineering between the checkout and your ledger.
Connecting an API is the easy week. These are the disciplines that decide whether payments stay boring in production.
Tokenization and vaulting
Card data never touches your servers. We design token-first architectures that keep you in SAQ-A territory instead of a full PCI DSS audit.
Idempotent webhooks
Payment events arrive late, duplicated, and out of order. We build webhook consumers that reconcile correctly anyway, with replay tooling for when a provider has a bad day.
Subscriptions and dunning
Trials, upgrades, proration, involuntary churn recovery, and retry schedules tuned to issuer behavior rather than a default cron.
Marketplace splits
Multi-party payouts, commission logic, KYC onboarding flows, and the ledger discipline that keeps platform money and merchant money separate.
3DS2 and SCA
Authentication flows that satisfy European SCA and issuer step-up rules without wrecking conversion on the checkout that pays your bills.
Reconciliation and ledgering
Settlement files, fees, refunds, and chargebacks tied back to orders automatically, so finance closes the month from a report instead of a spreadsheet hunt.
Gateway migrations
Moving processors without losing vaulted cards or active subscriptions: parallel-run strategies, token portability negotiations, and cutover plans measured in minutes of risk.
Fraud and risk
Rule tuning, velocity checks, and review queues calibrated to your margin, because a blocked good customer costs more than most fraud.
Questions clients ask about payments work.
The ones that come up before an integration engagement starts.
Yes. Gateway migrations are one of our recurring engagement types. The critical path is usually vaulted card portability and active subscriptions, so we negotiate token export with both providers, run the new stack in parallel on a slice of traffic, and cut over with a rollback plan already rehearsed.
We architect so that most of PCI DSS does not apply to you. Hosted fields and token-first design keep raw card data off your infrastructure, which typically means SAQ-A or SAQ-A-EP self-assessment instead of a full audit. Where a client needs more, we build the segmentation and evidence trail the assessor wants to see.
It depends on where your customers are, how you sell, and who should carry compliance. Merchant-of-record platforms like Paddle or FastSpring suit global software sales. Stripe or Adyen suit product companies that want control. Regional rails matter more than brand names in markets like Pakistan, the Gulf, and East Africa. We give clients a written recommendation with the trade-offs before any code is planned.

Bring the gateway you have, the one you are considering, or no opinion at all. You will leave the first call with a written view of the right rail and what the integration honestly involves.
