The Role
The systems BearPlex ships carry real load for regulated enterprises, and the backend is where reliability is won or lost. We need engineers who design for scale and failure from the start, because our clients run these systems in production and expect them to hold.
This is a fully remote, senior position building high-scale backend services in Go and Python. You will work on distributed systems and APIs that power AI-heavy workloads, where performance and correctness are not optional.
What You Will Do
Build high-scale backend services. Design and ship distributed systems in Go and Python that handle heavy, concurrent, AI-driven workloads.
Design resilient APIs. Build clean, well-versioned interfaces that other teams and client systems depend on, with clear contracts and observability.
Own data at scale. Model, query, and tune PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis for throughput, consistency, and predictable latency.
Engineer for reliability. Build in retries, backpressure, idempotency, and graceful degradation so systems stay up under real-world conditions.
Optimize performance. Profile hot paths, eliminate bottlenecks, and serve AI inference and data pipelines at the latency our clients require.
Ship to production with rigor. Containerize with Docker, deploy on Kubernetes across AWS, GCP, or Azure, and instrument everything for auditability.
Raise the engineering bar. Review code, shape architecture decisions, and mentor peers toward durable, maintainable systems.
What We Are Looking For
Senior backend experience shipping production systems at scale, with strong command of both Go and Python.
Deep distributed systems knowledge, including concurrency, queuing, caching, and consistency tradeoffs.
Strong API design skills and experience operating services that other teams rely on.
Solid database expertise across PostgreSQL and at least one of MongoDB or Redis, including performance tuning.
Hands-on cloud and container experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and at least one of AWS, GCP, or Azure.
A reliability-first mindset. You design for failure, measure what you ship, and value architectural integrity over raw speed.
Comfort working remotely with strong written communication and the autonomy to own systems end to end.
Nice to Have
Experience serving AI or ML workloads in production, including inference APIs or RAG systems.
Rust experience for performance-critical components.
Familiarity with event-driven or streaming architectures.
Background building for regulated or audit-heavy environments.
