The Role
BearPlex builds production systems for regulated enterprises across the Gulf, which means every engagement carries real contractual, governance, and data-protection weight. The legal function here is not paperwork after the fact: it is part of how we earn trust with clients who demand auditability and proof.
This is a part-time position based in Dubai, supporting our commercial and corporate work across the United Arab Emirates and the wider region. You will sit close to the business, helping us move quickly without ever cutting corners on compliance.
What You Will Do
Draft and review commercial contracts. Prepare, redline, and negotiate MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and DPAs for enterprise software and AI engagements in the Gulf.
Advise on data protection. Guide the team on UAE PDPL, GDPR where relevant, and client-specific data residency and audit requirements that shape how we architect systems.
Support corporate governance. Maintain entity records, board and shareholder documentation, and filings for our regional presence, including free zone and mainland matters.
Track regulatory change. Monitor evolving Gulf regulations on data, AI, and software procurement, and translate them into practical guidance for delivery teams.
Manage risk and disputes. Flag contractual risk early, support escalations, and coordinate with external counsel when a matter calls for it.
Build internal templates. Create and refine clause libraries and playbooks so the commercial team can self-serve on standard terms with confidence.
What We Are Looking For
Qualified lawyer or experienced legal counsel with a focus on commercial and technology contracts, ideally with UAE or wider Gulf exposure.
Strong grasp of data-protection law, including UAE PDPL and GDPR, and how it applies to enterprise and AI systems.
Hands-on contract drafting and negotiation experience with enterprise or government counterparties.
Working knowledge of UAE corporate governance, including free zone and mainland entity requirements.
Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken, for regional contract and stakeholder work.
Clear, practical communication that turns legal nuance into decisions the business can act on.
Nice to Have
Experience with software and SaaS licensing or intellectual property in a technology setting.
Familiarity with DIFC or ADGM frameworks and common-law contracting in the region.
Exposure to AI governance or emerging tech regulation.
Prior in-house experience at a technology or professional services firm.
